South Coast of Iceland
Some of the sights featured on this tour include black sand beaches, glaciers and not one, but two 60 meter high waterfalls, one of which you can walk behind!
The South coast of Iceland is a magical area filled with adventure opportunities. Vast black lava beaches as far as they eye can see, massive waterfalls, fascinating rock formations and enchanting glacier tongues, all within an arm’s reach.
Fenced in between the Atlantic Ocean in the South and a big ice cap to the North as well as two big glacier rivers to the East and West, the area is quite spectacular with the black sand and hard ocean waves beating the shore of Reynisfjara beach. The rock formations of Reynisdrangar are a signature landmark.
During this trip we visit the charming local town Vík í Mýrdal and two of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls; Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, both thundering down 60 meters. We’ll also visit Dyrhólaey; a 120 meter high rock inhabited by numerous types of birds, including the puffin. And to top it off we’ll make a short stop at Sólheimajökull glacier tongue where you get a chance to observe the amazing glacier.
